Tex’s Visit to the Bay House

To celebrate Mrs. Noramnn-Petersen's birthday Tex went to the Bay House with Mr. and Mrs.  Normann-Petersen.  Tex and Mrs. Normann-Petersen answered together the following questions:

1.      Where is Tex?  Tex is at the Bay House in Port Alto, TX with Mrs. Normann-Petersen enjoying the beautiful weather and the outdoors.

2. What is the geography like there? Port Alto lies in the southeastern part ofTexas on the Gulf of Mexico.  Port Alto is in between Port Lavaca, TX andPalacios, TX.  Since it is on Gulf Coast the area is very flat with a fewMesquite trees and has had its fair share of hurricanes and tropical storms.

3. What are typical foods that are eaten there?   What type of foods do you and family and friends like to eat?  While you are at the Bay House you tend to snack a lot, but our favorite breakfast is eggs; for dinner Mrs. Normann-Petersen likes to eat fresh fish and shrimp.

4. What types of jobs are there?   There are no places of employment in Port Alto because it is a very small town of 200 homes.  Many people who live full time in Port Alto are either retired or have to commute to PortLavaca, Victoria, or Palacios to work.  Most people who have a home in Port Alto only come for fun on weekends since their homes are Vacation Homes.

5. What are the popular sports or games played there?  What popular sports or games interest you, your family, and your friends?  During the spring and summer, looking for wildflowers, jet skiing, walking on the beach, playing in the water and fishing are      Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s favorite activities.

Here is Tex enjoying the little beach.  The Bay House does not have much of a beach.  It is very small.   There is a marsh area that birds and fish like to use.  Tex liked it too!

Here is Tex getting ready to go fishing!  He almost forgot his lifejacket!  Texreally enjoyed fishing.  He caught a lot of Hard Heads and a Sheep Head.

After the fishing, Tex rode on the Jet Ski and the Sun Fish.  The Sun Fish is a small sail boat that has a 2 person limit.

After all the fun in the sun Tex needed a nap.  He headed into the house and took a nap on the orange striped recliner!

Tex Goes Swimming

Tex, the Longhorn, went swimming at Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s friend’s home.   Tex answered the following questions:

1.         Where is Tex?  Swimming and sunning bathing at a friend’s pool in their backyard in Houston, TX.

2.         What is the geography like there? The pool is nestled in the backyard of a friend’s house.  Since it is located in a backyard, you can see the house, the pool, the sky, some grass, and the friends that are with Tex.  There are many houses, streets, vehicles, and mailboxes close by.  You can hear you and your friends having fun in the pool, the birds, and cars driving by.

3.         What are typical foods that are eaten there?   What type of foods do you and family and friends like to eat?  Food is not allowed inside the pool, but you can eat food at a table in the pool area.  Swimming makes everyone hungry.  Some good, healthy food choices to make include, but not limited to the following; yogurt, apples, bananas, turkey sandwiches, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

4.         What types of jobs are there? Lifeguards, swimmers, and parents are the most common job at swimming pools.

5.         What are the popular sports or games played there?  What popular sports or games interest you, your family, and your friends? Swimming of course!

Here is Tex swimming on his favorite float.  It has Woody and Buzz Lightyear from the movie, Toy Story.

Tex enjoyed sunbathing after he swam.  Of course he put on sunscreen to protect his skin!
