Tex attends a Crawfish Party with Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen

On Saturday, April 18, 2015 Tex attended a Crawfish Boil at the Ranch in Matagorda County with Mr. and Mrs.  Normann-Petersen.   As Tex, Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen ate Crawfish at the Ranch and together they answered together the following questions:

1.      Where is Tex?  Tex is at the Ranch in Bay City, TX with Mrs. Normann-Petersen enjoying their family and celebrating Easter.
  1. What is the geography like there? Bay City lies in the southeastern part of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.  Bay City is a small farming community located in Matagorda County.  Since it is on Gulf Coast the area is very flat with a few Mesquite trees and has had its fair share of hurricanes and tropical storms.

  1. What are typical foods that are eaten there?   What type of foods do you and family and friends like to eat?  Many types of food are eaten Ranch.  Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s father-in-law is from Denmark, therefore we traditionally eat many Danish dishes.  For example, herring, salmon, capers, rye bread, and Italian salad are served at Danish lunch; duck is served instead of turkey for Thanksgiving Christmas Dinner; but we do eat normal American cuisine such as crawfish, shrimp, and steak!  During the Crawfish Party we ate Crawfish, Potatoes, Andouille Sausage, Broccoli Cole Slaw, and s’mores for dessert, one of Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s favorite dessert!

  1. What types of jobs are there?   Many people who live Bay City are famers, or they work for the South Texas Nuclear Project, the hospital, or the local school district.

  1. What are the popular sports or games played there?  What popular sports or games interest you, your family, and your friends?  During spring time Mrs. Normann-Petersen enjoys cheering on the Sugar Land Skeeters, having crawfish boils, and picking Dewberries with her husband and mother-in-law; during the summer we go fishing at the Bay House; and during the fall and winter we enjoy cheering on the Houston Texans.

  1. Where are you going next Tex? Give us a hint and see if we can figure it before you get there! Tex’s clue is at the end of this post.

  1. Tex, can you include any pictures of yourself and surrounding area and/or landmarks?  Please see the pictures below of Tex’s Crawfish Trip with Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen in the Ranch!

Here is Tex with Jake, Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s German Shorthair Pointer checking out the live crawfish.

Tex liked the purple bags that the crawfish because purple is one of Tex’s favorite colors.  Each bag has a label on indicating which farm it came from.   The crawfish that the Normann-Petersen’s buy comes from Cornelius Crawfish Farms.  Mr. Normann-Petersen’s cousin is the owner/operator of Cornelius Crawfish Farms.

Tex liked sitting in the Gator with Jake, Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s dog, while they watched Mr. Normann-Petersen cook the crawfish, potatoes, and andouille sausage.

After cooking the crawfish, everyone sat down together to enjoy each other’s company while they peeled and ate the crawfish!  Tex and Mrs. Normann- Petersen inspected each batch of cooked crawfish.
