Tex's Easter Trip

Tex’s Easter Trip with
Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen

On Friday, March 30, 2018 Tex left his home in Houston, Texas to go to the Ranch with Mr. and Mrs.  Normann-Petersen.   Tex, Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen celebrated Easter at the Ranch and together they answered together the following questions:

1.    Where is Tex?  Tex is at the Ranch in Bay CityTX with Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen enjoying their family and celebrating Easter.
  1. What is the geography like there? Bay City lies in the southeastern part of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.  Bay City is a small farming community located in Matagorda County.  Since it is on Gulf Coast the area is very flat with a few Mesquite trees and has had its fair share of hurricanes and tropical storms.

  1. What are typical foods that are eaten there?   What type of foods do you and family and friends like to eat?  Many types of food are eaten Ranch.  Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s father-in-law is from Denmark, therefore we traditionally eat many Danish dishes.  For example, herring, salmon, capers, rye bread, and Italian salad are served at Danish lunch; duck is served instead of turkey for Thanksgiving Christmas Dinner; but we do eat normal American cuisine such as crawfish, shrimp, and steak!  For Easter lunch we ate Lamb Chops, Asparagus, Deviled Eggs, Dewberry Pie, Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s favorite dessert!

  1. What types of jobs are there?   Many people who live Bay City are famers, or they work for the South Texas Nuclear Project, the hospital, or the local school district.

  1. What are the popular sports or games played there?  What popular sports or games interest you, your family, and your friends?  During spring time Mrs. Normann-Petersen enjoys cheering on the Sugar Land Skeeters and picking Dewberries with her husband and mother-in-law; during the summer we go fishing at the Bay House; and during the fall and winter we enjoy cheering on the HoustonTexans.

  1. Where are you going next Tex? Give us a hint and see if we can figure it before you get there! Tex’s clue is at the end of this post.

  1. Tex, can you include any pictures of yourself and surrounding area and/or landmarks?  Please see the pictures below of Tex’s Easter Trip with Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen at the Ranch!

Here is Tex enjoying pink flowers, purple flowers, and fake sunflowers.

Tex helped Mrs. Normann-Petersen drive the Tractor to the Rice Field.

After working on the tractor, Mrs. Normann-Petersen and Tex went on a bike ride.

After all of the hard work made Tex and Jake, Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen’s German Shorthair Pointer, tired.  Tex and Jake took a nap together but not before Jake had to smell Tex!

After nap time, Mrs. Normann-Petersen was ready to dye eggs with Cousin Allison’s daughters’ Isabel and Genevieve.

The next day was Easter Sunday and Tex and Mr. and Mrs. Normann-Petersen woke up early to attend 7:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City.  After mass we came back to hunt Easter Eggs, and play with the confetti eggs!  Here is Mrs. Normann-Petersen, Tex, and Jake looking for Easter Eggs.

Here is Tex being silly with Mr. Normann-Petersen and his mother Cornelia.  They were having fun with the confetti eggs.

Tex like the Easter Egg Hunt and the Peeps!

After hunting for eggs, everyone sat for a scrumptious Easter lunch: ham, asparagus, deviled eggs, and dewberry pie.  Tex liked the dewberry pie and centerpieces the best!
